Ministers Prayer Network (MPN) started officially on January 18, 1995, with a simple and humble beginning. A few willing ministers of the gospel and some church workers, numbering between forty and sixty, gathered in response to the invitation of Rev. Mosy U. Madugba at Cornerstone Foundation Hall, No. 2 B Ozuzu Close, D/Line in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. This group was mainly made up of Pastors, Evangelists, lay Christian leaders and leaders of some ancillary ministries to the Church.
The objective was to provide a forum and an opportunity to meet regularly and pray together for our families, our Ministries/Churches and ourselves. And to tell ourselves hard truths to save us
from drifting with some observable negative tides within the modern Church. Jesus gave the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers (Ephesians 4:11). We discussed and sought practical ways of handling the challenges posed to us by people converted to the Christian faith without being properly discipled to be like Christ. We told ourselves to go beyond the deceptive emphasis on ability to gather crowd on Sunday mornings to the hard and thorough work of raising disciples for Christ.

The very rapid growth of this move in these following years across Nigeria, Africa and other continents of the world could only be done by Jehovah Himself. Many began to sense the need for us to come before the Lord at the beginning of the year, spend a minimum of three days to get divine direction for the New Year for ourselves, ministries, local churches and for our peoples. This led us to convene a solemn prayer conference.
The first conference was held in January, 1997 for three days and we had an attendance of about 600 people, most of who were pastors, General overseers and leaders of several denominations. The next year, the attendance grew to 2,200 people. The first two conferences were held at the International Airport Hotel, Omagwa.
In 1999, we moved the conference to Civic Centre, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, and had an attendance of about 5,000 people. Since then, the conference has been holding every January in the same venue. The attendance has grown tremendously to about 10,000 – 13,000 people. People have been attending from six continents of the world and several nations in Africa, and from every state of Nigeria. The several chapters of the Network also organise and hold conferences in different states of Nigeria, and in different nations of the world throughout the year.

The aims and objectives of MPN are to create a forum for prayers and biblical leadership development, devoid of any ostensive, ceremonial and religious atmosphere. The later only breeds religious growth without deep convictions and commitment to God. MPN was therefore born to provide an avenue where ministers of the gospel can come together and speak the bare truth to themselves, and in sincerity and simplicity, rebuke, exhort and pray for one another, basically as a family of brothers and sisters, without any religious stratifications or classifications.
There is need to pay particular attention to these things so that after we have preached to others, we will also make heaven, not with our works consumed by fire but refined by same. Our families too need to be given adequate ministerial attention so that we will make it together to heaven. Our cities also are not to be left unhealed. This way we will not be one or two tall trees and the rest shrubs in the bush.
But according to Ephesians 4:12 and 16 that together we "shall all grow, make progress, be equipped, both old and young, for the work of the ministry, by enjoying what every joint supplies, that we may be increased in faith and the sound knowledge of the Son of God, to grow to be perfect men and women, as God demands it, and to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Therefore as we tap from the knowledge, experiences, exposures, and revelations available to each other, we experience mutual growth in ministry.
Recently, the Holy Spirit has led us to wake up Christians in the family of God to guard effectively the spiritual gates of their families, cities, states, nations and continents for the Kingdom. The forum therefore is aimed at raising and training men and women as prophetic gatekeepers to man their gates at all levels. We have seen God awakening us to play the role of spiritual midwives to help the church in travail to give birth to the glorious Church with an Apostolic and Prophetic mandate, to help her understand what God’s agenda is for her in this season and to know the challenges facing her as she flows in this prophetic and apostolic era. This aim is achieved through the seminars and training sessions of the network.
Precisely the Ministers Prayer Network creates forums in cities and neighborhoods for those in ministry, laity and clergy to:
